Upcoming Events in Suffolk

Sunday 15th February

Bury St Edmunds BC will be hosting a Blue Pointed Swiss Pairs event on Realbridge.

This is an 'open' event playing 36 boards starting at 11am with a break at half-time. The cost is £6 per pair.

AND

Ipswich and Kesgrave will be repeating the 'Play and Learn'.

This was an event which they trialled last year with great success. You play 8 boards in the morning and 8 in the afternoon, after each session there will be a seminar hosted by Chris Green. The cost is £10 per player and this will include a light lunch. Play starts at 11am and is expected to finish around 5pm.

Sunday 29th of March

Suffolk Bridge (SCBA) will be running the qualifier for the '9 High' Corwen.

This event was introduced last year by the EBU to run alongside the full 'Corwen', where  the winners of the Suffolk Championship Pairs go on to represent the county in a National event.

The '9 High' Corwen is an event for the intermediate player who is a Suffolk player with an NGS between 2-9 as at 1/1/2026. This event will run online on RealBridge on Sunday the 29th of March starting at 11 am with 24 boards and a break at half time. The top three pairs will go on to represent Suffolk in the final also being held online on Saturday the 30th of May. The booking form is on the SCBA site HERE.

Josh's Combo Cardplay and Defence Course

Hi there, Josh here and I'm delighted to announce another brand new course I'll be running for Abbeygate Bridge Club!

 

The course will run on Fridays for 10 sessions between the 16th of January and 27th March, with a break on the 6th February

Times are as before:- 1.45 pm - 4 pm at Nowton Court, just outside Bury.

The topic will unusually be a combination of two subjects: card play and defence.

Together we'll examine the different methods and strategies of how to declare various types of contracts, as well as looking how best to beat a contract and the many ways to make life as hard as possible for declarer.

You can join as a partnership if you like but the course will be just as valuable for individuals as well 😃

The course is £100 per person, which includes all 10 sessions, course materials and the possibility of extra catch up sessions as well if needed!

Play bridge at Abbeygate Bridge Club
Nowton Court

We play duplicate bridge at Nowton Court every Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Tuesday is our regular club night, Wednesday is a more relaxed session for beginners and improvers. Visitors are welcome at both sessions. No partner needed on Wednesday, just turn up and you will get a game. If you would like to play on Tuesday evening we will try to find a partner for you, click partner broker here or on the menu to the left. Online Bridge at Abbeygate - RealBridge

Abbeygate Bridge Club is running its online Club nights on RealBridge on Monday evenings at 7 pm.

These events are open to Abbeygate members only and table money will be £2.50, for which you will be invoiced later.
